EARTHY CAR OF THE WEEK: 2008 Toyota Prius

For those who do not already know, the Toyota Prius is the world’s most famous hybrid vehicle.

We have 4 Toyota Prius’s on our lot currently. 2 of them are 2008 models. One of them is the base model; one of them is the touring model. The touring model has more features for the people who do a lot of traveling. It has more cargo space than the base model, and has cruise control. Like all 2nd generation Prius’s, both Prius’s have a LCD navigation system.

OVERVIEW:
MSN Autos:

“The Prius is Toyota’s gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle and the third-generation Prius debuts for 2010 with a more powerful engine and improved fuel economy. Prius was the first mass-produced gasoline-electric hybrid when it went on sale in Japan in 1997. Since that time, the Prius has become the best-selling hybrid vehicle in the U.S. and the world. The Toyota Prius entered the U.S. market in 2000, and the second-generation 2004 Prius debuted in the fall of 2003 as the first Toyota product to use Hybrid Synergy Drive, Toyota’s third-generation gas-electric hybrid powertrain technology.”
AOL Autos:
“The Toyota Prius sets the standard for environmentally friendly hybrid transportation. It delivers extremely good fuel efficiency in a front-wheel drive, five-door liftback.
Now available in three trims, the Toyota Prius is a roomy mid-size car, producing low emissions and achieving excellent fuel economy. A wind-cheating, super-low 0.26 cD also helps to minimize interior noise. Powered by Toyotas' Hybrid Synergy Drive a 1.5 liter four-cylinder gas engine and continuously variable transmission combine with a powerful electric motor for 110 combined horsepower. The standard warranty for hybrid-related components is 8 years/100,000 miles. Features like power mirrors, remote keyless entry, and a tilt steering wheel with redundant climate and audio controls are standard. Standard safety features include dual-stage front airbags, side-curtain and front-seat side airbags.

For 2008, the Toyota adds a more affordable Standard trim to the Prius lineup in addition to the Base and Touring trims.”
