EARTHY CAR OF THE WEEK: 2008 Toyota Prius

For those who do not already know, the Toyota Prius is the world’s most famous hybrid vehicle.

We have 4 Toyota Prius’s on our lot currently. 2 of them are 2008 models. One of them is the base model; one of them is the touring model. The touring model has more features for the people who do a lot of traveling. It has more cargo space than the base model, and has cruise control. Like all 2nd generation Prius’s, both Prius’s have a LCD navigation system.

2008 Toyota Prius Touring, Blue, Hatchback, 68044 mi, $15,900 http://ht.ly/3pI3u MPG = 48/45

2008 Toyota Prius, Green, Hatchback, 80770 mi, $12,900 MPG = 48/45 http://ht.ly/3s9zX

OVERVIEW:
MSN Autos:

“The Prius is Toyota’s gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle and the third-generation Prius debuts for 2010 with a more powerful engine and improved fuel economy. Prius was the first mass-produced gasoline-electric hybrid when it went on sale in Japan in 1997. Since that time, the Prius has become the best-selling hybrid vehicle in the U.S. and the world. The Toyota Prius entered the U.S. market in 2000, and the second-generation 2004 Prius debuted in the fall of 2003 as the first Toyota product to use Hybrid Synergy Drive, Toyota’s third-generation gas-electric hybrid powertrain technology.”
AOL Autos:
“The Toyota Prius sets the standard for environmentally friendly hybrid transportation. It delivers extremely good fuel efficiency in a front-wheel drive, five-door liftback.
Now available in three trims, the Toyota Prius is a roomy mid-size car, producing low emissions and achieving excellent fuel economy. A wind-cheating, super-low 0.26 cD also helps to minimize interior noise. Powered by Toyotas' Hybrid Synergy Drive a 1.5 liter four-cylinder gas engine and continuously variable transmission combine with a powerful electric motor for 110 combined horsepower. The standard warranty for hybrid-related components is 8 years/100,000 miles. Features like power mirrors, remote keyless entry, and a tilt steering wheel with redundant climate and audio controls are standard. Standard safety features include dual-stage front airbags, side-curtain and front-seat side airbags.

For 2008, the Toyota adds a more affordable Standard trim to the Prius lineup in addition to the Base and Touring trims.”

EARTHY CAR OF THE WEEK: 2002 White Infinity G20

2002 Infiniti G20 Luxury Model White, Sedan, 106446 mi, $6,900 http://bit.ly/2002InfinitiG20 MPG = 20/28

This 2002 Infiniti G20 is one of the more affordable cars on our lot currently. However, it comes with quite a lot for an affordable car. It’s still a luxury car – it has a sunroof, power windows, cruise control, and a 6-speaker stereo system. And although it is 8 years old, it has been well maintained. The engine runs great, and the body barely has a scratch or dent.

2005 Honda Element EX w/Side Airbags 4WD, Red, SUV, 91850 mi, $10,900 http://bit.ly/2005HondaElement

In Vermont, we have finally seen some real snow! Last week's Earthy Car of the Week was the Honda CR-V, a vehicle that drives great in the snow and ideal for an averaged sized household family. The Honda Element is another vehicle that is perfect for snow driving and ideal for families. However, the Element has even more cargo room than the CR-V.

It is the ideal vehicle for families who frequently hit the slopes for skiing, or desire to take a winter road trip or travel long distances across the country to visit family over the holiday's.

This Honda Element is 4WD (of course). It has mounted armrest for passenger and driver seats, and has a MP3 capable stereo with seven speakers. Your family would be comfortable and well entertained in this vehicle.
OVERVIEW:

MSN Autos
:
"The Element is Honda’s interpretation of a crossover SUV which Honda describes as a multi-functional and versatile light-duty truck. The Element has a hard, flat floor like a pickup but is enclosed like an SUV, with side cargo doors and innovative seating to accommodate both passengers and cargo."
AOL Autos:
“The Honda Element is the versatile box of motor vehicles, combining unique and practical features with a kind of military/utilitarian chic. Honda says the Element was designed specifically for young adventurers who need to haul wet or messy gear, like you can in a pickup, but with the security of an enclosed cargo area, like an SUV's, plus car-like performance and economy. Element provides all that. And it appeals to a much larger audience than just young men.
Element's durable, scratch-resistant interior is a big part of its charm. Its seats are designed to get wet. Inside and out, it looks like a little truck. But it's built with components from the Honda Civic, so it drives more like a car than a truck-based SUV.
The Element was all-new for 2003.Honda has made few changes since then. The 2005 models come with more standard equipment, including side-impact airbags for the top-of-the-line EX models.”

EARTHY CAR OF THE WEEK: Blue 2008 Honda CR-V LX 4WD

2008 Honda CR-V LX 4WD Blue, Crossover SUV, 74258 mi, $15,900 http://ht.ly/34FBJ

According to a 'tweet' I saw today, the best selling SUV this November was the Honda CR-V. As it happens to be, we have two Honda CR-V's on our lot (both 2008's).
One is is blue, one is black. One is the LX trim, one is the EX trim. Both are 4WD.

I have named the blue LX trim as the Earthy Car of the Week - because it is priced $3000 less than the black EX one. (The blue LX does have a little bit more miles on it than the black EX one, plus the EX trim has more features.)

It is easy to see why the CR-V was last month's best selling SUV. Even though it packs a lot of power, it is relatively light for an SUV. With its light weight and size, the CR-V is one the most fuel efficient SUVs (20 city, 26 highway MPG rating). While smaller than most SUVs, there is enough space for a family of 3 kids plus a decent amount of cargo space. It doesn't hurt your family that the CR-V is one of the safest SUVs on the market. Or that your family will be well entertained, as its stereo has MP3 capacity.

With its 4 wheel drive, don't forget that the CR-V is also a great winter vehicle.

EARTHY CARS SPOTLIGHT 11.16.2010

Even though the summer is long over and the winter is about to arrive, gas price are not going down. In fact, they are going up. Check out the following stories in the news:

http://www.thestate.com/2010/11/09/1552673/gas-prices-rise-as-holidays-near.html

http://chicagobreakingbusiness.com/2010/11/fed-easing-to-be-felt-at-the-gas-pumps.html

If you are looking to buy a vehicle, you should consider buying a vehicle that is fuel efficient. As gasoline becomes less plentiful, it will become more expensive. There will be many times in the near future where the price of gasoline will spike in price. Save all you can by buying a fuel efficient vehicle. Plus, it’s good for the economy and the environment.

Take note of the MPG (average miles driven per gallon of gas consumed) rating of vehicles you are looking to buy. There is a rating for both city driving and highway driving. The higher the ratings, the less gasoline it consumes.

The MPG rating of every vehicle sold in the U.S., plus information about MPG ratings, can be found here: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/
