Hello ,
We are doing something a little different this week. I sorted out our entire inventory into different ‘types’ of vehicles – practical, sporty, retro, hybrid, utility, luxury, and micro.
Which ‘type’ of vehicle is right for you? It depends on the look, size, fuel efficiency, value, and/or price that you are looking for. Consider a practical car or hybrid if you are looking for a fuel efficient vehicle; a sporty or luxury if you want to go out in style; a practical if something inexpensive, etc.

EARTHY CAR OF THE WEEK: 2005 Blue Toyota Corolla
2005 Toyota Corolla CE, Blue, Sedan, 97720 mi, $9,900, http://bit.ly/etbKDX 4-spd automatic, MPG = 26/35
We have 3 Toyota Corolla’s on the lot. The Corolla is well known to be practical, basic, affordable, compact cars that are fuel efficient. It is one of the most popular car brands in the world.
I have named a 2005 model as Earthy Car of the Week. It is blue in color, the most popular color of cars on our lot. It is priced at just $9,900. It will also save you money on gasoline – it gets up to 35 mile per gallon, 30.5 on average.
So consider this vehicle if you’re looking for something practical & not too fancy – just very reliable, not very big, fuel efficient. It’s great as a teenager’s 1st vehicle, a college student’s vehicle, a mother’s vehicle (if they only have 1 or 2 small children, or non-sports-playing children), a childless young couple, or ‘empty nest’ couple.

EXPERT REVIEW:
New Car Test Drive via AOL Autos: http://autos.aol.com/cars-Toyota-Corolla-2005-CE__4dr_Sedan/expert-review/
“Toyota Corolla is among the best of the compact sedans: reliable and economical yet refined and comfortable.
CE comes standard with air conditioning (with an air filter), AM/FM/CD stereo system, power steering, tilt steering column, tachometer, intermittent wipers, digital clock, outside temperature gauge, trunk lamp, and a dome light with delay.
The Corolla's interior doesn't feel like a small car nor does it feel cheap, like many compacts do. Big and tall people will find accommodations cramped, but shorter people often find the Corolla fits them perfectly. There's plenty of front legroom and headroom and there's a decent amount of room in the back for two average-size adults. Although there are seat belts for a third rear-seat passenger, there's definitely a shortage of space for that person.
Materials used in the seats appear classy with nice fit and finish. The driver's seat has a much more substantial feel than in many cars in this price range, which makes it more comfortable for long journeys. Even the doors shut with a pleasant thud thanks to sound deadening felt mounted inside the door panels.
The Toyota Corolla is smooth, convenient, and easy to drive. For many owners, this car quickly fades into the background, allowing them to focus on other aspects of their lives. It's hard to find faults with this car.
The power steering is just right, providing a nice feel without being too stiff or sloppy. The suspension has been tuned to give a smooth ride, which is helped by a relatively long wheelbase. Body roll (lean) is minimal and the car feels secure and stable at all speeds. The suspension is soft and does a good job of soaking up bumps and road vibration, giving the Corolla a nice, smooth ride that we really liked."

Previous EARTHY CAR(S) OF THE WEEK...still here
The previous five vehicles named ‘Earthy Car of the Week’ have not been sold yet.
The information on the blog posts is still relevant. Check them out:
--Isa R Bufano, social media manager of Earthy Cars
2006 Pontiac Vibe, White, $8,900: http://earthycarsblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/earthy-car-of-week-2006-pontiac-vibe.html
“The Vibe is a compact, sporty wagon. It’s not very big, but it has a fair amount of cargo space in the back. For a wagon, it has a very excellent fuel economy. It has a highway MPG of 31, very high for a wagon. If you looking for a car with a lot of space but are worried about rising gasoline prices, you should consider the Vibe.”
2007 Honda Fit, Blue, $12,900: http://earthycarsblog.blogspot.com/2011/04/earthy-car-of-week-2007-blue-honda-fit.html
“The Honda Fit is ideal for someone who wants a light, practical car that is also fuel efficient. And for a vehicle of its size, it’s very comfortable. The reviews of the Honda Fit are always excellent, and it has won various awards and can arguably be called the best sub-compact vehicle on the market.”
2008 Toyota Prius: http://earthycarsblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/earthy-car-of-week-2008-toyota-prius.html
“If you didn’t already know, the Prius is a hybrid vehicle (half electric, half gasoline run). The Prius is the most fuel efficient mid-size vehicle sold in the United States; it is also the cleanest vehicle in the U.S., based on smog formation and toxic emissions. If you are looking to save money and/or environmentally conscience, the Prius is perfect for you.”
2006 Scion xB, Blue, $8,900: http://earthycarsblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/earthy-car-of-week-2006-scion-xa-blue.html
“I would describe the Scion xA as light and funky. It’s aesthetically appealing to the younger crowd, & without much weight or space. The Scion brand is designed by Toyota - its quality is the same. Like any sub-compact vehicle, the Scion xA is fuel efficient…It is an ideal vehicle for those looking for fuel efficient vehicles, or young couples, young singles, or students looking for something affordable.”
2007 Mini Cooper, Red, $13,900: http://earthycarsblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/earthy-car-of-week-mini-cooper-2007-red.html
“All the Mini makes throughout the past 50+ years have a similar look, yet no other car brand has had a make similar to the Mini. It is small, kind of sporty, has two-doors, with a long, flat hood, but with plenty of room…The Mini is perfect for young or old couples without children around (or singles), who desire a vehicle that will stand out; those who want a high MPG vehicle to save gas / the planet; or ‘Britophiles’ and British expats.”

EARTHY CAR OF THE WEEK: 2004 Honda Element LX
2004 Honda Element LX, SUV, Orange, 82061 mi, $10,900 http://bit.ly/eXPqWn 4-spd auto, MPG = 20/24
This 2004 Honda Element is one of the bigger vehicles we have on our lot. It is considered a small SUV. If you need something with A LOT of space in the back, but not something too big, then the Element is for you.
It is ideal for those into outdoor activities, dog owners, and soccer moms.
There is a plastic floor instead of a carpeted one. It can get wet, it can get dirty – without getting ruined and it would be easy to clean.
It’s got center-opening doors that make it easy to load both passengers and/or cargo.
In 2007, the Element won an award from Dogcars.com for ‘Dog Car of the Year’.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Element
With an average miles per gallon (MPG) rating of 22, that's pretty good for an SUV.

OVERVIEW:
MSN Autos: http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/overview.aspx?year=2004&make=Honda&model=Element
“The Element is Honda’s interpretation of a crossover SUV which Honda describes as a multi-functional and versatile light-duty truck. The Element has a hard, flat floor like a pickup but is enclosed like an SUV, with side cargo doors and innovative seating to accommodate both passengers and cargo.”
Vehix.com: http://www.vehix.com/car-reviews/2004/honda/element/2wd-lx-auto/highlights
Yahoo! Autos: http://autos.yahoo.com/honda/element/2004/lx-2wd-4-spd-at/
AOL Autos: http://autos.aol.com/cars-Honda-Element-2004-LX__Front_wheel_Drive/overview/
“Normally a conservative company, it designed a unique vehicle, both in appearance and packaging. The Element is sort of military/utilitarian chic. Honda says Element was designed specifically for young male buyers who need a truck to haul their stuff, but want the security of an enclosed cargo area with car-like performance and economy. As it turns out, the Element appeals to a much larger audience than young men.
Element features a plain, durable, scratch-resistant interior, and that's a big part of its charm. Its seats are designed to get wet. It looks like a little truck, but is built with components from the Honda Civic so it drives more like a car than a truck-based SUV."
"Versatility is the key word in the design of the Honda Element's interior. Honda spent a lot of time designing features with flexible utility first and foremost in mind."

EXPERT REVIEWS:
Vehix.com: http://www.vehix.com/car-reviews/2004/honda/element/expert-reviews/nctd
“When it comes to moving cargo, this Honda is in its element. (Sorry, couldn't resist.) It's great for getting groceries. The center-opening doors allow easy loading of bulky objects without having a pillar to get in the way. The rear seats fold down easily, and can be swung up to the side, leaving an uninterrupted flat floor space. The front passenger seatback can be folded forward to make room for a 10-foot surfboard, and that would still leave room for the driver and one passenger behind the driver. All the seats, including the driver's, can be folded back to make a large, albeit uncomfortable, double bed. When parked, the Element can be set up to serve as a giant locker for surfboards and other large items, a great feature.”

http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/review.aspx?year=2004&make=Honda&model=Element&cp-documentid=434896
“The funky new youth-oriented Honda Element crossover vehicle has plenty of utility and is surprisingly fun to drive.
The Element's boxy shape is appealing to many younger drivers, judging by reactions to my test Element. It had almost a paramilitary look with its green paint and gray scratch-resistant plastic cladding on the fenders and numerous other body areas. Although primarily aimed at young males, the Element drew many second glances from a good number of young women.”

EARTHY CARS SPOTLIGHT 4.19.2011
The lot at Earthy Cars is still full. We’ve been selling several vehicles every week, while receiving a steady stream of new vehicles arriving on our lot each week. As always, the vast majority of them are fuel-thrifty.
Its spring, but I think it could be a little warmer. What do you think?

These vehicles are just 2 ½ years old or younger, and have less than 50,000 on them. Like all the vehicles on out lot, they are well maintained. You would get more value for your money buying one of these vehicles than buying a new car, if you don’t mind a lightly used car vs. a new car.

EARTHY CAR OF THE WEEK: 2006 Pontiac Vibe
2006 Pontiac Vibe, White, Hatchback, 90172 mi, $8,900 http://bit.ly/eRhhGK 4-spd automatic, MPG = 25/31
The Pontiac Vibe was a joint creation by General Motors and Toyota. It carries the Pontiac brand but its design and mechanics are like a Toyota – it is very very similar to the Toyota Matrix, only with slight differences. The Pontiac Vibe is a way to ‘buy American’ (besides carrying an U.S. brand, it was manufactured in the U.S.), but get Japanese features.
The Vibe is a compact, sporty wagon. It’s not very big, but it has a fair amount of cargo space in the back. For a wagon, it has a very excellent fuel economy. It has a highway MPG of 31, very high for a wagon. If you looking for a car with a lot of space but are worried about rising gasoline prices, you should consider the Vibe.
As it is a sporty vehicle, it has a rear spoiler and cool, trendy-looking interior.
The Vibe on our lot is very affordable – it is priced at $8,900 and it is only 5 years old.

EXPERT REVIEWS:
MSN Autos: http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/review.aspx?year=2006&make=Pontiac&model=Vibe&cp-documentid=435243
"Cargo space and flexibility in a compact package, a ride height that's a bit higher than a normal car's, decent fuel economy, and assembly that's done at a plant with Toyota participation all make the Vibe a worthwhile small hatchback/wagon.
Even if you don't aspire to own a Pontiac, the Pontiac Vibe may be worth a look. Truth be told, the Vibe's practical character as a surprisingly versatile compact hatchback/wagon with near-SUV cargo volume, fuel economy that's better than most SUV's"
New Car Test Drive via Vehix.com: http://www.vehix.com/car-reviews/2005/pontiac/vibe/expert-reviews/nctd
“The Pontiac Vibe is popular for its practicality, sporty styling and zippy performance…A five-door hatchback, Vibe has roomy front and rear seats, making for comfortable travel for four. Its cargo compartment features a track system with adjustable tie-down anchors for securing your stuff. The seating setup is flexible, allowing the driver to flip down the passenger seat when hauling items up to eight-feet long. That seat can be used as a desk for a laptop computer, which can be plugged into the 115-volt electrical outlet.”
“Vibe is best represented in the standard model. It's pleasant and comfortable to drive and offers versatility when it's time to haul something. Its four-cylinder engine delivers adequate performance and it's clean, already meeting Ultra-Low Emissions standards set for 2007. It's also inexpensive.”

We are one the few dealers in Northern VT with pre-owned Prius’s on the lot, and ours are the lowest priced. They’re selling fast, and the prices will be going up later. Get one now if you want them.

The Honda Fit is ideal for someone who wants a light, practical car that is also fuel efficient. And for a vehicle of its size, it’s very comfortable. The reviews of the Honda Fit are always excellent, and it has won various awards and can arguably be called the best sub-compact vehicle on the market: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Fit#Awards_and_recognition
We currently have 4 Honda Fit’s on the lot at Earthy Cars. 3 of them are 2007 models. The other one is a 2008 model. There is virtually no difference between the 2007 and 2008 Fit’s.
3 of the Fit’s on our lot are the Sport trim. The features that the Sport comes with include a keyless entry system, alloy wheels, a roofline spoiler, steering wheel paddle shifter controls, a security system, cruise control, and a premium stereo system that includes 6 speakers and a MP3 compatible player.
My favorite Fit on the lot is the Blue one, because the color is really beautiful. That’s why I named that one the Earthy Car of the Week
OVERVIEW:

New Car Test Drive: “Subcompact cars are not the penalty boxes they once were. A raft of totally models brings comfort and happy motoring at bargain prices…They come with wacky names like Fit, Yaris, Versa, Aveo, Rio and Accent. For the most part, they're all delightful, get excellent gas mileage, offer comfortable, reliable transportation, and are highly space efficient. There's not a bad one in the bunch.”
“The Honda Fit distinguishes itself with agile handling, zippy performance, and impressive practicality. A four-door hatchback, the Fit is amazingly comfortable, given its dimensions, even in the back seats. It's a particularly pleasant car for running errands. It's easy to get in and out. It's easy to park. It does indeed fit, just about anywhere.”

“Don't underestimate the Honda Fit 5-door hatchback because of its plain looks and a starting retail price of less than $14,000. The Fit is an intriguing mix of practical, small, fuel-thrifty and smart…Don't let the unassuming looks and size of Honda's smallest car fool you...The 13-foot-long Honda Fit is very long on practicality and smart, utilitarian charm.”
